OpenScan(TM) is a full featured package that interfaces a wide range of scanners to the Sun®Workstation(TM). The scanners range from desktop grayscale or color scanners to B sized scanners to high speed dual sided scanners. OpenScan includes an easy to use OpenLook or Motif user interface, and a full featured device driver. The software supports automatic file naming and numbering for volume scanning and allows users to make notes about the file they are scanning as well as automatically saving information about who scanned the image, when it was scanned, scanning parameters,etc. OpenScan also includes the Apunix Scanserver Daemon which permits the user to scan across the Ethernet from remote workstations. Users can use the OpenScan command-line or application programmable interface (API) to scan their documents from their own developed code.
